Ban Den Yang Mun

General Information
The Village of Ban Den Yang Mun is located in the village group Nr. 12 in the Community of Na Sai in the District of Li in the Province of Lamphun. It is a Karen village. The history of the village began in 1963, when the community of Phrabat Huai Tom was not an officially founded village yet, but still a wild community amidst the forests and belonged administratively to a village of Na Liang in the village group Nr. 1. In that village's temple, the most respected Khruba Wongsa lived, after he had widely traveled a lot in the northern region and had taught to members of many hill tribes. He was well known and much respected and loved by the tribal peoples.
In 1971, a group of Karen (18 families with 65 members) in the Community of Mae Tuen in the District of Mae Ramat in the Province of Tak has moved to live there. Since then the village has developed rapidly. In 1975 the village got its own headman. The village borders Ban Phae Nong Ha in the north, Ban Mae La in the south, Ban Na Liang in the east and Ban Pha Tai in the west. The distance from the middle of the village, Phrabat Huai Tom (or the Buddha's Footprint of Huai Tom), to the laterite pool is 2 kilometers, to the Ironsmith Group 2 kilometers and 3 kilometers to the Silversmith Group.
Festivals and Traditions
The Festival of Amazing Karen takes place annually on the 14th January on the demonstration ground of the village, with many interesting activities, including Cotton Dance, Sword Dance, blowing the buffalo's horns, and folk music.
