Ban Pang Pu Lo

General Information
Eco-Tourism Village on the Highland of Ban Pang Pu Lo Tambon of Sri Thoi in the District of Mae Chai in the Province of Phayao. The Village of Ban Pang Pu Lo is located in the village group Nr. 13 in the Community of Sri Thoi in the District of Mae Chai in the Province of Phayao. It is a Mien or Yao village. The village has 46 households, with 56 families and 234 inhabitants. They make their living out of agriculture and working for a day loan. Most of them are Buddhists and some are Christians. The village began to form itself in 1970 and was officially declared a village in 1987.
Geographically, the village is situated on a highland, at the altitude of 300 meters above sea level. Administratively, the village borders Ban Phae Daeng in the north, the administrative areas of the District of Wang Nuea in the south, the District of Mae Chai in the east, and the administrative areas of the District of Wang Nuea in the west. The distance from the village to Prakai Phet Cave (or Diamants' Cave) is 1.5 kilometers, 3.5 kilometers to Phu Pha Daeng (or Red Big Walls), 2 kilometers to pine woods and about 35 kilometers to the provincial City of Phayao.
In 1999, a Festival of Blooming Sunflowers was organized and cerebrated for the first time; since then, it has always been set in the village every year - in November. This festival has become a kind of tradition now.
Festivals and Traditions
The Lychee Festival of Phayao takes place in May and June near the administrative area of Ban Pang Pu Lo, with many interesting activities, including competition of riding on mountain bikes, Lychee Contest and visits of lychee plantations. In January, Chinese New Year Festival will be cerebrated. In November, people come here to witness the beauty of Fog Sea in the morning. The villagers have practically a tourism calendar for the whole year; something always happens.
Places of Attraction
A vast plantation of lychee in and around the village (600 Rais or 960,000 square meters) is very interesting. There is a natural cave, Prakai Phet Cave, which lies 1.5 kilometers from the village on a trail.
