Ban Pha Nok Kok-1

General Information
The Village of Ban Pha Nok Kok is located in the village group Nr. 9 in the Community of Pong Yaeng in the District of Mae Rim in the Province of Chiang Mai. It is a Hmong village, consisting of 2 subgroups, that is, Hmong Khao and Hmong Lai. In the year of 1964, leaders of 3 families came to settle down here. They made their living out of cultivation of opium as cash crop and of rice and vegetables for consumption. In the following years of 1967-69, other members of Hmong group followed. The village was officially set up in 1992. It has now a population of 433 persons in 66 households and 90 families. Most of them are Christians and some are animists. Besides farming, they are employed for general works.
The village is located on a piedmont plain at the altitude of about 1,000 meters above sea level. It borders in the north on the Village of Ban Pang Kham, and in the south, east and west on mountains. The village is situated 25 kilometers from the City of Chiang Mai. One follows the route 107 Chiang Mai-Fang, and turns to the left at Km 12 to Mae Rim-Samoeng Road. It is at Km 8. Other interesting places near the village: Pha Krong Doi Pui 9 Km. Flower garden and vegetables 800 meters, Tribal Cultural Center, Demonstration Center for Weaving Arts 200 meters.
